A customer involved in the manufacturing and packaging of various sports and lifestyle nutrients approached Thomas Conveyor & Equipment to provide a crossover stair unit for one of their new nutrition lines. The crossover needed to be stainless steel; OSHA approved, and provide a safe and efficient way for employees to navigate in their facility.
Because of the limited space, after the landing the second set of stairs needed to be at a 90 degree angle to allow a main aisle to remain free and clear. Measurements were taken to confirm conveyor size, clearance needed and space available on both sides of the new conveyor.
Other requirements included:
• All stainless steel construction
• OSHA approved stairs
• Checkered plate landing & stair treads
• 1.5” sq. tube handrails
• Landing with kick-plate (one-piece construction)
• All sharp edges removed
The approval drawing was provided, and once signed, we were ready to ship out to the customer in 3 weeks. The crossover was constructed into three sections for easy installation with all hardware provided.
Crossover stairs are the ideal solution for safely moving people up and over conveyors, machinery, high traffic areas, busy work zones and other obstacles and hazards in the workplace.
