TYPE: Mezzanine Decking and Framing

MODEL: Mezzanine Decking

Mezzanine decks are customized based on the application the decking will be used for. Decking can be customized for light use, moisture resistance or heavy duty traffic and weight allowances.

When deciding on your decking for your mezzanine/work platform, you want to determine which decking option will offer the best long term solution for your application.    Key things to consider are:

  • How is the structure being used?
  • What is going on top?
  • How is the material being moved or stored?
  • Is it a wet environment?
  • Is there an office being built on top?
  • Are there any budget concerns?

Thomas Conveyor & Equipment has experienced engineers available to help guide you through the decision making and planning process for the configuration of your Mezzanine system.

The following deck options are available:

Standard OSB (Oriented Strand Board) Over 20 Gauge Steel

Our standard decking consists of one layer of 3/4" OSB (oriented strand board) installed over 20 gauge x 1-1/2" deep, corrugated steel deck. The roof deck top is unfinished gray; a bright white paint is applied to the underside of the roof deck to enhance light reflectivity and reduce the amount of lighting needed to illuminate the workspace under the mezzanine. It is available with an unfinished or finished coat; It can also be painted or coated with moisture-resistant urethane.

Option 2: 20 gauge painted steel roof deck with specialty wood (straight edge or tongue & groove). The roof deck top is unfinished gray; a bright white paint is applied to the underside of the roof deck to enhance light reflectivity and reduce the amount of lighting needed to illuminate the workspace under the mezzanine.

This standard type decking provides good resistance to foot traffic and can handle wheel loads up to 300 lbs. This is a durable selection for general storage and office applications.  It is the most economical deck option available.

Heavy Duty Resin Deck over 20 Ga Steel

Heavy Duty Resin Deck Over 20 Gauge Steel

Our resin deck offers a heavy duty decking that alternative that offers faster installation with self spacing tongue and groove fitting Resin mezzanine decking tongue and groove constructionand higher weight capacities with a 3000 lb. pallet jack rating.
Resin Deck comes in 5 finishes:
Standard Gray: a tough and durable finish, with exceptional water resistance and high scratch protection.
Gray ESD: Electrostatic Dissipative finish for static sensitive areas.  Each order is tested to ensure its meeting ANSI/ESD S7.1 Standard.
Titanium Clear SR: Exceptional scratch and abrasion resistance in an easy to clean, clear finish.
Unfinished:  Available for cost savings without sacrificing panel integrity.  This is the only unfinished panel available with a 3000 lb. pallet jack rating.
Moisture Resistant Substrate: Manufactured with a blend of wood fibers and resin, this three layer technology provides exceptional physical and mechanical properties that can handle heavy wheel load traffic.

Bar Grate Decking

Bar Grating

Bar grating is commonly used decking for mezzanines, platforms, catwalks and conveyor systems. The bar grating is 1” x 1/8” painted, steel bar grating (NAAMM.)

Bar grating allows for air movement, light, and water from overhead sprinklers to pass through the deck surface.  This material should not be used for wheeled carts or pallet jack applications.

Bar Grate Decking

20 Gauge Steel Roof Deck and Floor Plate

This heavy duty mezzanine decking system designed for use on projects that require non-combustible materials. A 12 gauge unpainted floor plate is fastened directly to a 20 gauge painted steel roof deck. The diamond or checkered pattern makes these floor plates slip-resistant so they are safe for foot travel. The top surface of the tread plate can be unfinished or painted.  The roof deck top is unfinished gray; a bright white paint is applied to the underside of the roof deck to enhance light reflectivity and reduce the amount of lighting needed to illuminate the workspace under the mezzanine.

These plates can withstand constant travel and use by forklifts or other machinery without causing floor damage. Diamond plate or checked plate steel floor plates offer an outstanding combination of durability and safety.

Concrete on 20 Gauge Steel Roof Decking

Concrete on 20 Gauge Steel Roof Decking

With concrete decking, you will experience the strongest and most durable mezzanine flooring available. When you use this type of deck, high point loading and capacity is not a problem. Concrete density dramatically reduces noise transmission through the floor. Concrete and steel decking is primarily for fire rating and/or chemical applications.

A 20 gauge steel deck is provided with edge trim necessary to allow the onsite pour of a concrete floor. The roof deck top is unfinished gray; a bright white paint is applied to the underside of the roof deck to enhance light reflectivity and reduce the amount of lighting needed to illuminate the workspace under the mezzanine.  Please note, the mezzanine cannot be deconstructed with a concrete pour.

Specialty Panels & 20 Gauge Steel Roof Decking

Specialty panels can be fastened directly to a 20 gauge painted steel roof deck. These panels are used where non-skid or harder surface properties are required.  The roof deck top is unfinished gray; a bright white paint is applied to the underside of the roof deck to enhance light reflectivity and reduce the amount of lighting needed to illuminate the workspace under the mezzanine.

Specialty Grating

Specialty grating, such as fiberglass or plastic, are available.  These can be used when chemical or non-conductivity properties are needed.
