Bag Flattener Conveyor

Challenge

Remove excess air from sacks so they lay flat and not cause uneven loads. To also maximize the number of sacks that can be stacked on to the pallet per shipment.

Solution

A two belt conveyor inverted to each other and used to compress product. The two conveyors are attached with two linkage arms and air bags. The upper conveyor weight is used in the flattening process. Trackmate belts are typically used, however, other belts are available based on application needs.

The bottom conveyor, which is longer than the upper conveyor, typically is mounted on legs mating up to an in-feed and an exit conveyor. The upper conveyor, mounted on the linkage arms is adjusted to the desired flattening height. With both conveyors running, the regular package enters the flattener and exits compressed or flattened to the required height.

Results

Our Bag Flattener Conveyor also diminished the logistics issue of wasted space on each pallet. Since these sacks now have less wasted space, more sacks can be loaded per pallet, which will help decrease shipping costs over time. These cost savings will benefit our customer for years to come.

Thomas Conveyor’s Bag Flattener Conveyor can be customized to fit your product in almost any size bag/sack and is easily adjusted for how much flattening force will be needed for your particular product.
