Recently, Thomas Conveyor & Equipment was approached by a health, safety and environmental engineer working for a large plastics manufacturer. They needed help with an ergonomic handling problem. The problem was lifting, transporting and dispensing 400 lb. 55-gallon brute containers along with smooth sided standard size fiber and steel drums. They needed an ergonomic lifter with was flexible and lightweight enough to handle all of these containers and still be able to lift and pour at heights up to 63" above the floor.
Our customer found this problem difficult to overcome. Each method they tried put their operators at risk. After contacting us, we devised and developed a lifter which was less than 200 lbs. in total weight and would accomplish all of their handling tasks. This particular lifter was supplied with Squeeze-O-Turn (SOT) tooling and capabilities for 360º rotate. In addition to this, we also designed a feature which allows handling and locking in place a brute container by the handles.
Not only did we eliminate risk of injury to our customer's workforce, but we've also improved operational process time and housekeeping by avoiding accidental spills.
