Roach Screw Type Auxiliary Type Take-Up (For Belt Conveyors)

TYPE: Conveyor Accessories

MODEL: Roach Take-Up

Screw Type Auxiliary take ups are the most common take ups for belt conveyors. With a screw take up system, the take up pulley rotates in two bearing blocks which may slide on stationery guideways with the help of two screws.

  • The tension is created by the two screws which are tightened and periodically adjusted with a spanner
  • It is preferable to use screws with trapezoidal thread to decrease the effort required to tighten the belt
  • Take ups:
    • Ensure adequate tension of the belt leaving the drive pulley to avoid any slippage of the belt
    • Compensate for changes in belt length due to elongation
    • Ensure proper belt tension at the loading and other points along the conveyor
    • Provide extra length of belt when necessary for splicing purposes

  • 4” Aux. Take-Up: (2) 4” dia. pulleys with 1-3/16” dia. shaft, machine crowned
  • 6” Aux. Take-Up: (2) 6” dia. pulleys with 1-7/16” dia. shaft, machine crowned
  • Frame: Depth of (4”) 8” x 10 ga. formed steel, Depth of (6”) 9-1/2” x 10 ga. formed steel
  • Take-up: 24” belt take-up
  • Bearings: Heavy duty, relub-able, ball bearings with cast iron housings.
