Mechanical and Electrical Union and Non-Union Installation, Repair, Preventative Maintenance and Moving Services for Conveyor, Mezzanine, and Material Handling Equipment

Conveyor repairs keep operations runningThomas Conveyor & Equipment offers both union and non-union installation, repair, and moving services on both new and existing conveyor equipment and systems. This work can either be performed on straight time labor or night/weekend labor. We have installed projects with systems including: powered belt and roller conveyor, MDR Motorized Driven Roller Conveyor, Gravity Conveyor, Mezzanines, VRC Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors, Pneumatic Systems, Rail Car Unloading Systems, Selective Pallet Rack, Carton Case Flow Rack Systems, and Pallet Flow Systems. We have over 40 years of experience performing both local and national installations and repairs. Thomas Conveyor and Equipment provides full turn-key material handing system and project management.

A recent customer purchased two 40' used power flexible roller conveyors from an Amazon distribution center, and needed them up and running ASAP. Thomas Conveyor sent out a Sales Engineer and a Mechanical/Electrical foreman to diagnose what had to be fixed and replaced to get the conveyor operable again. The powered extendable conveyor was not in the best of shape after heavy use from the previous customer, and was also damaged during transportation from warehouse to warehouse. Our electrician determined the existing controls needed additional power supplies and new relays. We sourced these parts locally and installed them ASAP. He also blew out each motor brush on the line to increase its motor life. We also inspected and replaced a drive or idler band which was worn out, broken, or missing altogether.

Preventative maintenance on a conveyor systemThomas Conveyor also can provide preventative maintenance on your existing conveyors and equipment. Our foreman will walk your conveyor line and perform the following actions:

-Closely inspect suspect components and take corrective action as appropriate

-Check for belt wear — especially at edges and splices — and belt stringing.

-Check for damage or wear at loading and transfer points.

-Confirm that components are in proper alignment and make necessary adjustments.

-Check condition of conveyor structure and parts, including idlers, return rollers, bearings, etc.…

Thomas Conveyor supplies emergency and priority repairs, as well. Recently, we had a customer who accidently bumped into a Hydraulic Line of their Vertical Reciprocating Conveyor with a fork truck. This resulted in a hole in their hydraulic hose which leaked hydraulic fluid all into their pit and made the VRC unit inoperable.

Welding a conveyor systemThomas Conveyor sent out a conveyor technician the same day to first clean up the area and then diagnose the issue. He had to use several bags of Oil-Dry to clean the area. After determining the hose was cut, he sourced a replacement hose locally and replaced it. He then refilled the hydraulic tank with new AW 32 hydraulic fluid to the proper operational level. We were able to get our customer’s VRC up and running again within 24 hours of the equipment break.

Thomas Conveyor offers custom welding and fabrication. We had a customer who purchased a powered drum barrel up ender which we designed and installed to integrate with his current Line Shaft conveyor line.

After months of use, the customer wanted to change the barrel upender’s arm elevation. Rather than having to ship the unit back to the factory for engineering to rework the unit, Thomas Conveyor sent a technician out to field cut the unit and weld the arms back on at a different elevation. This saved our customer two freight trips and charges, plus the engineering time and labor to rework the unit back at the OEM.
